Garnett were a tad unlucky to be edged out 4-3 by a decent but not unbeatable Whitley Bay A side.

They started off well and backed that up with a great individual goal from Mickey Cave. Unfortunately they sat back a little from there and perhaps took their feet off the gas (one or two probably didn't have too much gas to spare mind after the festive break mind) and Whitley came back into it. The equaliser wasn't memorable but the second was a good strike from outside the box, and just when Garnett were getting back into it before half time Whitley caught them on the break with a long ball over the top - 3-1 at half time.

Crammond also injured his back in the first half, so had to be replaced in nets by Merce at half time.

Garnett looked a bit sorry for themselves at the start of the 2nd half and Whitley had a couple of good chances to go further ahead, but Garnett picked themselves up and showed a lot of character to battle back. Mickey Cave scored again from close range, they had a goal ruled out, and then following some strange defending Mickey was wrestled to the ground for a pen which Sherwood converted with aplomb for 3-3.

Garnett were good value for the draw at that stage but perhaps lacked the fitness to really push on for the win. Unfortunately with a few minutes left a defensive mix up let Whitley Bay pinch a winner - the draw was probably a fair result.
