Saturday 13th April 2002 Garnett 1st
1 (0) vs. (3) 3 Darsley Rangers
|
Match Report Garnett's title hopes suffered a massive blow with a disastrous home defeat to Darsley Rangers. Only the goalkeeping heroics of Craig Gracie saved Garnett further embarrassment as they fell to their first defeat of the season at Benson Park. Darsley were the hungrier and more determined team throughout and thoroughly deserved their victory. The half time score line of 3-0 was a fair one and despite a tactical reshuffle at half time Garnett rarely looked like getting back in the game despite a late Lee Elliott header from an Andy Ree cross. With five games left Garnett can still win the league but destiny is no longer in their hands. On this showing Darsley could well be serious title challengers next season.
